Overview

JOB PURPOSE:

 

The Operations Services Project Accountant provides support in managing multiple Operations Services projects through A/R, A/P, General Ledger, and Inventory Management functions.  This position includes, but is not limited to, processing of accounts payable transactions, purchase order requests, customer billing, site-specific inventory tracking, fixed assets management, and general accounting support for the Operations facilities.   The OS Project Accountant works closely with the site managers and other employees at each facility and provides excellent customer service to these internal customers. 

Responsibilities

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE

  • Prepare monthly billings for multiple customers, including government entities, trust accounts, and internal customers
  • Technical data entry and operation of Accounting software system, Access database and Wide Area Work Flow systems
  • Monthly A/R tracking and follow up
  • Communicate with customers, owner trusts, and bond trustees

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

  • Review and verification of proposals, approved subcontracts, and terms and conditions used when processing purchase order requests
  • Processing and data entry of accounts payable invoices
  • Communicate with site managers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Vendor issue resolution as needed
  • Assist with maintaining and reporting sales tax accruals for various states as needed

GENERAL LEDGER

  • Enter journal entries in accounting system for inventory reconciliations
  • Reconcile month end trial balance G/L pass thru accounts

INVENTORY

  • Record and reconcile monthly inventory transactions for multiple sites in accounting system and asset management software

GENERAL ACCOUNTING AND SUPPORT

  • Create and maintain numerous Microsoft working documents and tracking sheets
  • Manage fixed asset projects and reconcile all related costs
  • Work in partnership with staff at remote Operations facilities
  • Assist other members of the accounting team as necessary

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

Minimum:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of two (2) or more years of accounting-related work experience

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • One to three (1-3) years; related experience

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Maturity and professionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to senior members at Energy Systems Group, department team members, external organizations, and customers
  • Significant proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in Excel and Access
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain multiple reporting requirements and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail

The employee is required to practice, recognize, and interpret safety precautions and follow safety rules and OSHA requirements as they relate to the job. The employee is required to work in an indoor environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

This position requires the ability to think quickly on your feet while maintaining a level head. The ability to defuse sensitive issues is mandatory.

 

Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
