This role is a part-time positin.


This individual applies his/her experience with diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical generator systems, engine failures, and utility transfer switches and switchgears to perform various operations, repairs and maintenance at multiple generation sites. The Field Service Technician is responsible for general maintenance on generators, maintaining inventory, ordering materials and tools from vendors, completing necessary paperwork, and perform preventative maintenance, all while complying, practicing, and promoting ESG’s safety, standards and policies.


  • Apply experience with diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical generator systems, engine failures, and utility transfer switches and switchgears anaerobic digesters and biogas systems
  • Repair and maintain commercial diesel and gas generators up to 750 kW
  • Perform digester, biogas equipment, generator and engine maintenance
  • Apply comprehensive understanding of electricity, electrical controls, generator sets and power distribution
  • Apply ability to interpret repair work orders, requisition parts and supplies, and complete necessary reporting to accomplish the required repairs
  • Maintain an inventory of parts, supplies, and literature
  • Comply with the company’s safety standards and policies
  • Perform general maintenance on generators, including changing oil and keeping units in good running condition
  • Order materials, tools, and instruments from vendors
  • Prepare reports and maintain records on equipment and preventative maintenance
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment
  • Complete necessary paperwork in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Utilize mathematical formulas to determine both nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements
  • Apply ability of reading and understanding schematics
  • Ability to be on call and work at multiple site locations
  • Performs all duties as deemed necessary by management




  • High School Diploma or GED with three (3) to five (5) years related experience
  • Three (3) years’ experience as Power Generator & Diesel Mechanic; or an equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Associate’s degree (AA or AS) or Technical degree with at least five (5) years’ related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • HVAC knowledge of coolers, chillers, and cooling tower



  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to proficiently operate various electronic control panels on machinery
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, )
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with little or no direction
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to compose and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read instructions, parts information, and communicate effectively with employees and customers
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Maturity and ability to communicate professionally with all levels of ESG management, clients, customers, and the public
  • Ability to successfully complete a mechanical and electrical aptitude assessment
