    JOB PURPOSE:

    Energy Systems Group, LLC is looking for a Project Accountant to join our team.  This fast-paced role allows for interaction with individuals throughout the organization as well as with internal and external customers, suppliers, and other resources. 

    The Project Accountant is responsible for managing all administrative and accounting aspects of a portfolio of projects in a professional and knowledgeable manner.  The project accountant keeps both administration and project management informed, on a timely basis, of the status of projects, especially those that deviate from expectations / norm.  In addition, the project accountant manages other various accounting assignments and responsibilities as assigned. 

    Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate will have the ability to review and understand project contracts, timelines, and scope of work, be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Outlook.  Maturity and professionalism, as well as the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment will drive success in this role.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Contract responsibilities, including initial interpretation, execution and adherence to terms.
    • Subcontract and purchase order responsibilities, including issuance of appropriate documents, managing the invoice/voucher approval and payment process, and tracking prevailing wage/certified payroll, uninstalled materials, sales/use tax, etc.
    • Budget responsibilities, including initial review for adherence to contract and project booking, recording, monitoring and documenting variances, and ensuring that estimate revisions are accurate, timely and SOX compliant.
    • A/R responsibilities, including timely billings per the contract terms and/or work completed, monitoring and documenting project over/under billing, and monitoring collections and customer retainage to maximize cash flow.
    • The project accountant is ever mindful in the performance of their job responsibilities of adherence to company policy and generally accepted accounting principles, primarily in the area of revenue recognition.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum

    • Associate’s Degree in Accounting
    • 1-2 years related experience

     

    Preferred

    •   Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
    •  2-3 years related experience

     

    COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

    • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office programs and accounting ERP software, and related peripheral systems
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, exercise discretion and independent judgment
    • Maturity and professionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to senior members at ESG, as well as with external organizations, customers, and the public
