    JOB PURPOSE:

     

    The Sr. Manager Operations is responsible for oversight of facility management, energy delivery, and operations and maintenance (O&M) services at multiple (typically >10) customer and/or company owned facilities some of which operate on a 24 x 7 basis. Responsible for delivering favorable results in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), financial, customer service, continuous improvement, supporting business growth, and employee development while ensuring all contractual requirements are met. Responsible for meeting all customer service, contractual requirements, and guarantees at each facility. Represent organization to community, customers, government agencies and the public.

    Responsibilities

    MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Responsible for the overall performance of multiple facilities across a region that provides a vast array of energy products and services, facility management, operations and maintenance (O&M), and project management to various external customers through various short term and long-term contracts.
    • Responsible for delivering favorable results in EHS, customer service, financial performance, continuous improvement, and employee development
    • Responsible for monitoring, reporting, and achieving all contractual obligations and key performance indicators (KPI’s) the company has entered into with external customers for ongoing energy products and services.
    • Responsible for building and expanding relations with customers at each facility or location.
    • Responsible for safety performance and environmental compliance to permits, regulations, and standards across all company owned and managed facilities
    • Provides overall leadership, direction and motivation to all team members related to safety initiatives with the goal of optimizing the culture of “safety first” throughout the site operations
    • Identifies and develops new business opportunities at existing sites in coordination with ESG corporate resources.
    • Develops and ensures successful delivery of Operations Services strategies and objectives for the sites; ensures that local leaders capably implement these strategies and objectives at the facility level.
    • Responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of O&M practices, procedures, and programs at the facilities
    • Leads strategy and execution of key reliability and/ or facility improvement projects.
    • Oversee conceptual and preliminary engineering design along with project or construction management for site projects
    • Measure, review, and improve facility and regional performance
    • Assumes full responsibility for P&L’s of multiple sites including financial strategies, budgets, and performance tracking
    • Responsible for strategic planning resulting in establishment of short and long term plans, profitability, growth of company
    • Ensure proper documentation and assists in the development of short and long term corporate financial forecast
    • Negotiates contracts with various suppliers and subcontractors to optimize business performance
    • Plan, develop and assist in the establishment of policies and objectives
    • Responsible for oversight and management of all subordinates
    • Provide leadership and supports motivation in these and other areas: the creation of strategic, tactical, and financial plans; developing goals and measuring performance to the approved goals; organizational development; liaison to the public, government, affiliated organizations
    • Develop leaders through performance reviews and routine discussions regarding competencies, value alignment and results achieved
    • Delegate responsibilities to direct reports, ensuring they are defined and understood
    • Lead by example with clear alignment to corporate objectives and culture
    • Demonstrate personal integrity, teamwork and alignment to all corporate values
    • Performs all duties as deemed necessary by management

    Qualifications

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

     

    EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (or equivalent experience) is required; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and PE License are preferred
    • MBA Preferred

    EXPERIENCE

    Minimum:

    • Ten (10) years of progressive management experience
    • Ten (10) years operations and maintenance experience in energy production facilities, highly automated manufacturing facilities, or other technical operations

     

    Preferred:

    • Ten (10) or more years managerial experience supervising a technical staff (supervisors, technicians)
    • Prior multi-plant management experience and management of a large facility (100 people or more)
    • Prior responsibility for P&L
    • Experience leading plant start-ups
    • Project and/or construction management experience
    • Demonstrated experience and success with operating and maintenance processes of new and upgraded facilities, including: steam, chilled water, electrical, power generation, heat recovery, and control systems, HVAC, biogas operations.

     

    COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

      • Ability to effectively manage teams at multiple sites
      • Ability to apply background knowledge and technical capability to a variety of plant equipment and operations
      • Strong financial background
      • Proven background in effective management of P&L, as well as the ability to assure key performance metrics and objectives are met
      • Demonstrated successful performance in business planning and business development in a growth environment
      • Negotiation skills
      • Strong commitment and driver of continuous improvement including demonstrated skillset in methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or Reliability Centered Maintenance
      • Cross functional team leadership experience
      • Strong comprehension and retention skills, and analytical problem-solving skills
      • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to effectively communicate with multiple teams
      • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks due to breadth of portfolio
    • Maturity and professionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to senior members at ESG and Vectren, as well as with external organizations, customers, and the public
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)

     

    • ERP and CMMS experience

    Ability to travel 50% of the time

    This position requires the ability to think quickly on your feet while maintaining a level head. The ability to defuse sensitive issues is mandatory.

     

    Registered driver’s license is required.

     

    Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
